What is this?
Open House is once again being conducted live, in-person at the Turner Research Station and Paul and Jane Meyer Observatory.

The Moon will be in the 1st Quarter so our viewing may be limited to brighter objects.

Region of the Month: Macho Quadrangle
Area defined by Arcturus, Vega, Altair and Antares.

Constellations of the Month: Hercules the Strong Man and Ophiuchus the Serpent Bearer.

Star of the Month: Alpha Librae (Zubenelgenubi) A double star, 75 light years away, in the constellation Libra the Scales.

We may see some meteors from the Delta Aquarid Meteor Shower. The meteor shower is active from early July thru mid August, peaking around the end of July.

Weather permitting, we will be observing the following Messier Objects M11 (Wild Duck Cluster), M13 (Hercules Cluster), M92 (Globular Cluster in Hercules), M17 (Swan Nebula), M10 and M12 (Ophiuchus Globular Clusters), M55 (Sagittarius Globular Cluster). Of course, we are not limited to these.

Another Globular Cluster of interest is I4665 in Ophiuchus.

The Milky Way will be visible South to North toward the East.

We will also focus on any planets that are visible.

Thanks for your interest in CTAS.
