I added an AT 106 ED Refactor telescope on the top of my AT 10" RC this year but have not had time to get it working correctly. I have a neat focuser for it made by Starlight Express called POSI DRIVE WITH THE FOCUS BOSS II. It is a belt driven focuser that is supposed to lift up 54 lbs. Overkill for the 2.5 lb QHY 168C camera but it can get a really precise focus with 16,0000 counts for one inch of movement. So on November 30th, I got it working and shot this image of M31. Turned out fairly good even though we had a lot of moon light that night and the seeing was over well over 3.0.
With the large chip on the 168 I got most of the Galaxy in the shot. One thing I have learned with the new CMOS chips is that they are pretty sensitive and hard to get the color balanced with Maxim DL. I think it will be a lot easier with Sharp Cap 4.0 where you can adjust gain for each color.
