Last night was one of the best at Meyer Observatory and I took advantage in shooting this 2.5 hour image of NCG 253 Sculptor Galaxy. I used my Explore Scientific 127mm Triplett and my STT 8300 with filters on the Losmandy G11. The lum channel was shot with 20 minute subs which reveals a lot of detail. In this frame there are around 50 other galaxies most of them down around 18th magnitude. The very low elevation of the sculptor makes it hard to get a good image except in very good conditions at Meyer as its looking down toward our light polluter in Gatesville (prison). Only two or three of the background galaxies can be discerned clearly. The rest look like very small slightly oblong stars.
